Tripmates

Have you ever wanted to meet more people while traveling? I know it can be pretty hard not meeting at least a few other backpackers and travelers while you are bouncing around town to town. However there is a new website, at least it is new to me, out there that is a social networking site (like myspace, hi5, etc) but it is specifically for backpackers and travelers.
I just signed up over there and am slowly checking out the new features and seeing what it is all about. So far it looks like a pretty cool, and I really like the idea and the fact that companies are paying more attention to us under appreciated worldly vagabonds.

Another cool site is www.vcarious.com. They’re less about finding people to travel with and more about previewing places you might want to go through the photos and experiences of people who’ve been there. Lots of fun browsing to be done and info on out-of-the-way places all over the world (Madagascar, Phillipines, etc.)
I am a tripmates fan! It’s like having your own network of travel experts. I have met some very interesting people from all over the world who have shared great travel advice. My sister is using it this fall to meet other students studying abroad in Italy.
